Supply around the clock
Hospitals operate day and night. Redundant chillers and pumps, a buffer tank and reliable alarms keep the cooling supply running even during maintenance or a fault.
Planning, plant engineering and service from a single source
KSI Kältetechnik designs the refrigeration for hospitals and clinics and then builds the system itself. From cooling generation and distribution to control, designed with redundancy and installed without disrupting hospital operations.
In a hospital, patient care, medical technology and the kitchen depend on a cooling supply that must never fail. That is why we prefer to be involved from the design stage.

Four requirements
Hospitals operate day and night. Redundant chillers and pumps, a buffer tank and reliable alarms keep the cooling supply running even during maintenance or a fault.
Plant rooms in hospitals are tight, and operations around them continue. The system has to fit into the available space and be installed so that wards and supply are not disrupted.
Air conditioning, medical technology, laboratory, pharmacy and kitchen need different temperatures and capacities. The cooling supply has to serve all areas reliably at the same time.
Operating states are recorded transparently and remain traceable at all times. Deviations are reported immediately, so nobody only finds out at the next inspection round.
What we use for this
Central cooling generation, special cooling for individual areas and the supply of kitchen and storage are connected. That is why we plan generation, distribution, control and monitoring as one overall system.

Chilled water or brine, generated centrally and distributed to the consumers in the building, at the temperature each area needs.
Two pump systems, several chillers and a buffer tank that bridges short interruptions. This keeps the cooling running during maintenance or a fault.
Equipment, laboratories and the production of medicines often need their own, very stable temperatures. For this we plan separate circuits with their own safeguards.
A hospital's commercial kitchen, cold stores and deep freezing can be connected to the central cooling supply, with normal cooling via cold brine and CO₂ for low temperatures.
A central control system with visualisation records critical temperatures in real time. Via secure remote access we analyse faults quickly, often without a site visit.
For new systems we use propane, ammonia and CO₂. The F-gas Regulation is gradually restricting synthetic refrigerants; natural ones secure operation and service in the long term.
So you know whether we are a good fit for each other
We work where cooling is supplied centrally: clinics and hospitals with their own plant room, a chilled-water or brine network, several consumers and high redundancy requirements. Typically in the three- to four-digit kilowatt range.
An air conditioner for a doctor's office or a medicine refrigerator is best sourced from a local specialist. As soon as several areas, a chilled-water network or redundancy come into play, it is worth talking to us.
We look at consumers, redundancy requirements and the existing installation, and develop a concept that suits your hospital.
