UPONOR
Centralised cooling and heating supply for industrial production processes.
KSI Kältetechnik installed a central cooling and heating system for industrial production processes at the Zella-Mehlis site for a leading international company in the plastics industry. The planning was carried out entirely in 3D and enabled all components and cable routes to be precisely coordinated.
Planning and system design: The system combines natural refrigerants with Heat pump technology for flexible cooling, heating and free cooling operation. This involves using both the cold and hot sides of the heat pump simultaneously to cool and heat processes efficiently.
Centralised cooling and heat generation: The entire scheme is based on a Siemens system with visualisation and secure remote access. The system was set up whilst production was ongoing, without any downtime.
Technical features: All pumps are designed to be fully redundant, ensuring continuous plant operation. The dynamic operation flexibly adapts cooling, heating and free cooling modes to current demand. This reduces energy consumption and operating costs.
Controls: A Siemens central control system controls all operating modes and enables transparent plant management.
Operating concept: The technical control centre was built in Outdoor area completed. The plant was installed without any interruption to production.
