Sustainable refrigeration system for Amsterdam’s largest new hotel development
KSI Kältetechnik is carrying out the construction of a sustainable refrigeration system for Union Investment Real Estate at the new MARITIM Hotel in Amsterdam – using natural refrigerants throughout.
Bespoke refrigeration systems for the Maritim: For the Maritim, the refrigeration technology was tailored precisely to the requirements of a vertical hotel building. The complete 3D design This formed the basis for the precise coordination of all routing paths, elevation zones and the various trades involved. This enabled the technical systems to be integrated safely and systematically into the overall construction process.
Supply of natural refrigerants: In total, there will be 30 cold stores and numerous other cooling points via Cold brine supplied. Cooling takes place via six propane chillers, which ensure an efficient and reliable supply of refrigeration.
The natural refrigerants used in this process are Propane and CO₂. This solution represents a efficient, future-proof cooling and is particularly well suited to the complex requirements of modern hotel environments.
Technical features during operation: A key component of the system is 100 per cent pump redundancy. This safeguards the brine supply to all consumers and ensures a stable cooling capacity that is available at all times.
The dynamic refrigeration contributes to the plant’s high efficiency. The components used Propane chiller for NK and CO₂ systems for deep-freeze storage adjust their output to suit the load. This increases both the Energy efficiency as well as the Operational safety.
Control and remote access: The integrated Siemens control system enables a complete visualisation of the system. Secure remote access allows diagnostics and adjustments to be carried out quickly and precisely, even whilst the system is in operation. This simplifies monitoring and significantly improves responsiveness on a day-to-day basis.
Seamless integration within the building: The Technical Centre was certainly installed inside the building. In addition, a CO₂ system on the 34th floor It reliably supplies the Sky Restaurant with cooling. This has resulted in a technically sound and efficient solution, even at high altitudes.
